Making life's little adjustments. This is a list of small things that all add up to big savings in the long run.


1) Cut your dryer sheets in half. Half a sheet works just as well as a whole sheet.

2) Wash out and reuse Ziplock storage and freezer bags. Turn them inside out and wash them with your white clothes, using hot water and a little bleach.

3) Grow vegetables.

4) Bake and decorate your child's birthday cakes and have parties at home.

5) Plan your meals around your grocery store sales flier, coupon deals and what's in your pantry.

6) Keep the thermostat set at 78 degrees instead of 77 or lower. That one little degree makes a big difference.

7) Hang laundry to dry outdoors on the clothesline if possible.

8) Use compact florescent light bulbs. They cost more up front, but we saved almost $30 on our electric bill the first month we had them.

9) Make a habit of checking out yard sales. I furnished our first apartment entirely with used furniture.

10) Make your own birthday and greeting cards.

11) Do your own landscaping, it's really not that hard and it's a great workout.

12) Make homemade play dough, silly putty, soap crayons, and other amusements for your children.

13) Make use of your slow cooker. It uses far less energy than the oven and is more convenient.

14) Compost your food waste. It breaks down into a rich and fertilizer that is perfect for flowers and vegetables.

15) Cut open toothpaste tubes to get the last little bit out. There is usually enough in there for a couple more brushes.

16) Use glass jelly and spaghetti sauce jars for extra drinking glasses or to sort and store items.

17) Do your own taxes.

18) Don't follow trends. You really don't need a new cell phone, ipod and every video game system out there.

19) When your car is paid off, that doesn't mean it's time to buy a new one.

20) Drink more water. Soda is horrible for your teeth. Don't buy it.

Admission is Free, however, spectators are strongly encouraged to donate canned food items to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank.

The Corvette Club Benefit Show will be held at Bill Branch Chevrolet (now named Victory Lane) located at 3984 Central Ave., Fort Myers, Florida.
